Diseases characterized by an abnormal immune system that causes autoimmunity and tissue inflammation.

These diseases are characterized by autoantibodies and immune-mediated disturbances of T-cell and B-cell functions.

Joint damage in connective tissue diseases is variable, depending on the tissues affected and imaging modality used.

Abnormalities may be identified in the skin, muscles, fascia and/or joints.
